Why Satoshipedia Exists (and How We Work)

Why this post exists

Over the years, Satoshipedia has sparked different opinions within the Pokémon community. Some readers appreciate its analytical approach; others have expressed doubts about its framework or the conclusions it occasionally reaches.

This article is not meant to fuel controversy or to convince those who have already formed a definitive opinion about us. Its purpose is to clearly explain the goals of the project and the criteria we follow before publishing any content, in order to make our working method transparent.

Why satoshipedia exists

Satoshipedia was created out of the need to analyze, in a documented way, the journey of the former protagonist of the Pokémon anime – Ash Ketchum – across the different series, so that new viewers can become familiar with the earlier stages of his story and not only with the most recent interpretations.

Starting with the Black & White series, interpretations spread within the community claiming that in previous series Ash had never shown real progression, that he was “reset” with each new region, or that his age and maturity had remained unchanged since the beginning.

However, by rewatching the episodes in chronological order and comparing them with interviews and written materials from the time, we found a more complex situation: up until the conclusion of Diamond & Pearl, the anime presents elements of narrative continuity, references to past events, and signs of Ash’s gradual growth.

Satoshipedia exists to collect and make accessible the evidence found in episodes and official sources, so that each reader can independently verify the character’s development over time.

Why we do not cover all Pokémon anime series

Satoshipedia is not intended to be an encyclopedia of everything related to Pokémon. Its goal is more specific: to preserve and document the journey of the original Ash – that is, the narrative line in which the character shows progressive growth, remembers past experiences, and builds his skills as a Trainer over time.

In the so-called “reboot series,” which we do not cover, there are instances where Ash no longer recalls experiences he had previously lived through, and others where his behavior and maturity level appear significantly regressed compared to the prior stage. These elements are visible directly in the episodes and can be verified by anyone.

To explain our approach, a simple image may help: imagine the story as a road that, at a certain point, splits into multiple directions. All of those roads exist and are part of the official work, but Satoshipedia has chosen to follow one specific path and document it carefully.

The XY XYZ series has been included as an optional extension, as it presents elements consistent with Ash’s growth up to Diamond & Pearl, while lacking significant narrative ties to Black & White. . Even in this case, however, we have always clarified that it is an extension of our work, not a change in our core criteria.

Our approach: verify before concluding

The way we work is inspired by a very simple principle: first observe the data, then draw conclusions. In other words, we always try to begin with what is verifiable (episodes, statements, documents, historical blogs...) and only afterward attempt to interpret it.

This approach, in simplified form, mirrors the foundation of the scientific method: distinguishing between what can be observed and what is inferred from observation, and always leaving room to revise one’s ideas if new information emerges.

For this reason, we do not ask readers to “trust” Satoshipedia blindly. Instead, we encourage them to check the sources directly whenever they wish, so they can verify the information with their own eyes.

We would also like to note that the website – and consequently many articles – are over ten years old. The language used and the outreach style may reflect our earlier immaturity, but the intentions have remained the same.

An Example of Our Method: Why We Have Not Yet Published Anything About the “Teraleak”

In recent months, some information that surfaced online through data leaks, often referred to within the community as the “Teraleak", appears to confirm certain observations we have made. However, the staff has chosen not to publish anything on the subject yet.

Before considering any information definitive, we prefer to verify it as carefully as possible – for example, by checking sources and translations directly, even when this requires additional time. If and when we have elements that we believe are solid enough to be independently verified by anyone (and when we have the time to publish them properly), we will address the topic openly.

Who Is Behind Satoshipedia

Behind Satoshipedia is a small group of enthusiasts who, over the years, have developed a fairly precise working method: observe the episodes, document what is verifiable, and compare interpretations before drawing conclusions.

For the person who writes and coordinates the project, this approach also stems from a long-standing personal relationship with Pokémon – a passion that played an important role in her growth, and that is therefore approached with both care and critical thinking.

We are aware that any analysis can be influenced by the perspective of the person conducting it. For this reason, we strive to separate data from interpretation as much as possible and encourage readers to verify sources directly.

Social Media Presence

Satoshipedia’s presence on social networks is limited and inconsistent. This is not due to an editorial choice, but simply to the time resources available to the team, which consists of a small group of people working on the project in their spare time.

Our priority has always been to focus on source verification, text revision, and episode documentation. Social media growth requires a specific and ongoing commitment that, at present, we are unable to guarantee with the same consistency.

We believe that a project’s reliability should be evaluated primarily through the quality of its cited sources and the strength of its arguments, rather than through social media metrics.

Those who share Satoshipedia’s approach and wish to actively contribute to managing and promoting its content may contact us via our social channels or at: satoshipediareal@gmail.comWe are always interested in serious collaborations aligned with the working method described above.
